FWIW, I think this patch good except that I haven't checked the lines mentioning streamtest.

streamtest.cpp itself is unfinished (e.g. AFAICT the test can't fail unless the functions it tests crash) and non-standard (doesn't use the utest/utest.h facilities, the executable name doesn't conform to the `foo.cpp tests go in foo-test.cpp' standard, whitespace usage doesn't conform to CodingStyle); but I don't see anything worth holding up a release for.
