For this release, we're doing things a little differently in that we'll be tagging the release branch earlier in the process than usual.

This is primarily to enable developers not focusing on the release process to continue with development work. During hard freezes we require use of the patch tracker instead of svn anyway, so it shouldn't hurt to return svn to regular developer access anyway.

So, we're planning on tagging the release branch this weekend - perhaps as early as Friday. The main requirement is that we want to be able to pass 'make check'.

Ideally, I'd like to see us pass on all platforms (Linux, Win32, and OSX), but at least we must pass on Linux.
