No, I know this can be made to work right because I had it behaving correctly when I first got marker rendering working. If I recall, there's an offset parameter that can be used in the <def>. If nobody else gets around to it before me, I'll fiddle around with it, I don't think it'll be difficult to fix.
Offset just moves your marker relative to the node, just as it is moved now. It won't help with the non-sharp tip problem for arrows.

Currently objects rotate in a counter-clockwise (CCW) direction, consistent with other vector programs. However, it is most inconvenient when one is trying to plot survey data in maps. Compass bearings are measured clockwise from north and to lay out a bearing of say 25 degrees using Inkscape you currently have to rotate your bearing by -25 degrees. Repeat this for every bearing and you have a situation very prone to error.
Inkscape is a already a wonderful tool for mapping so could we have the option of clockwise as well as counterclockwise rotation please?

I am using win32 autobuild 040515.
Marker Blink
Open Inkscape. Draw a line. Go to Stroke Style/ Markers Single click on any of the three options and the marker list blinks on and then off. Single click again and the marker list appears and can be used.
