Hello, I have a problem with the about screen. The blurs seem to be clipped and there is nothibng I can do about it. Looks like the blur problem is still persisting on my system (altough it's a clean install of 0.45 pre0). I attach the about screen file, along with another SVG (10.svg) showing the same problems and screenshots of the way these files are rendered on my system.
Can anyone not having this blur rendering bug undertake the about screen finition please? - redraw the glare under the sharpest ball so it look normally, not as if it was clipped. If you don't have the same rendering as me, then just try to resave the SVG and send it to me, I'll see if the file saved by another system shows differently on mine... - slightly unblur the sharpest ball so it looks more realistic (now it's set to 3.5%, and needs to be reduced to 1-1,5%. I cannot do it because of bug [ 1617082 ] Blur UI: value quantization, slider behavior] )
Apologizes for the bunch of attachments. Many thanks. Molumen *************************************** files attached: - 10.svg is a test svg created in 0.45 devel+ from 07-01-2007 - screenshot_of_rendering.jpg is a screenshot of 10.svg rendered in 0.45 pre0 - exported from Inkscape045pre0.png is a png exported from the file 10.svg by 0.45 pre0
- inkscapeabout0222.svg is the about screen that has to be finished - about_screen_rendered.jpg is a screenshot showing the way the flare is rendered (as if it was clipped) - About_screen_exported_from_0.45pre0.png is a PNG exported directly from 0.45pre0. Note that the third ball is exported without the flare under it. ***************************************

ARGH! I included the wrong link. The winning entry is at: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/45363866/
The white glare on the flat surface under the second ball from the left seems to be clipped, is that intentional? If not, can anything be done about it?

For now I fixed it manually in your about.svg, but this needs to be fixed in the code of course. The calculation of the blur area is wrong when the object is squeezed because the squeeze is not taken into account. If you submit it as a bug with a sample file that would help. I also unblurred the middle ball per your request.

Could you please commit your changes to the release branch also?

Thank you Bulia, could you please send me the corrected SVG about screen so I can have a look at it on my system? Molumen

You can take yourself the file from the web interface to SVN: http://inkscape.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/inkscape/inkscape/branches/RELEAS...

If anybody else wants to take a look you can grab it out of svn from:

Take the latest from http://inkscape.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/inkscape/inkscape/trunk/share/scr...
I also vacuumed it to remove leftover unused defs.

I think I fixed the filter area clipping on squeezed objects. I committed it to the trunk; please test and report if it works for you, then I will commit it to the 0.45 branch also.
Note that it still does not work entirely correctly for squeezed and rotated objects, but this cannot be fixed quickly because, once again, we differ with Batik on a more fundamental level: Batik makes the filtarea itself rotated, whereas in Inkscape it always remains horizontal/vertical. I guess we should hide this difference by just always making the filterarea large enough so that its edges are not seen in Inkscape _nor_ in Batik, but I can't so far find a formula which would give such "large enough" - but not too large - margins. Anyone who's better at math than me can give it a try in new_filter_gaussian_blur().

Tested trunk on WinXP. It looks awesome.
