thanks for letting us know, it's good that people look out for issues with documentation and help us out by informing the project.

However, the location for the setting has recently changed, the text is correct, you'll see in the next beta.

The mailing lists require a subscription to work properly, without subscribing, this is causing some amount of extra work for list administrators. Please subscribe if you'd like to use the mailing lists for informing the community.

Otherwise, you can also use the chat at https://chat.inkscape.org (and for documentation, specifically, https://chat.inkscape.org/channel/documentation).

In the https://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/Release_notes/1.4 https://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/Release_notes/1.4, under *New User Interface - ( Experimental and Optional )*, where it says "If it is activated under Edit > Preferences > Interface > Dialogs : Text and Font dialog" should say "Edit > Preferences > Tools > Text Tool : Text and Font dialog".

(at least for the released official beta, the option is there)
