Yes, the tool was 'xsvg'; our simple svg viewer application which can be found in cairo CVS. It's far from a complete presentation tool, but it suffices for our needs.
We use an xslt transformation to convert a simple slide xml format into svg. All of that is in cairo-artwork module. It's quite broken and has to be hacked extensively to restyle it for a new talk.
