0.45.1 is approaching at an alarming rate! (no, really, it is.) I'd like to collect opinions on the following patch in our tracker. It is more than simply recasting the 0.45 about in blue. There are quite a few differences. If you have an opportunity please make a side by side comparison, and report your opinions. The ultimate question is, of course, shall we replace the about screen with this version for 0.45.1.

IMO replacing the splash for 0.45.1 is not necessary and may be confusing to some users, as it is not a truely a "new" version. I eventually can update the spalsh screen to 0.45.1 if needed...

Since the work has already been done it would seem a shame not to use the modified splash screen, but at the same time we wouldn't want to put too much pressure on artists to create splash screens for every release.
Of course if the work was going to be used later perhaps for 0.46 and not go to waste then that would be better than changing just for a minor release.

No, I recall we had a similar situation in one of the previous point releases, and made a fairly firm decision to always stay with the same screenshot for the point releases.
What we need to keep in mind is that for the 0.45.0 screenshots, many people put efforts competing to produce and select a good screenshot. It is most fair to keep it for the entire 0.45.x series.

Yes, although since 0.46 will be a ways off and will probably have new features needing to be demoed in the screenshot, this may not be an ideal solution.
How about including it on the screenshots page? We've had other similar submissions that were included there. The screenshots pages get a LOT of eyeballs, so it's quite a prime location for good artwork.

Maybe a slight remix of the screen could be done - say change the colour from the red to blue or green. This way, its still the same splash, just a little different. (just like the release)

Hello,
I made a few color changes to the about screen, it is now blue. Also, the version number has been updated to match the 0.45.1 version. The overall color contrast is the same, so a simple color change won't harm IMO.
If this about screen won't be used, then just trow it to the screenshot section.
