Hey All,
Volunteers needed! Do you want to contribute to Inkscape but don't program? We can still use your help!
We need volunteers for the following tasks:
Testing SVN/Nightly Build (windows and osx especially) Reviewing and triaging Bug Reports Updating Tutorials & Documentation Reviewing Release Notes for accuracy/completion Writing PR/Announcements for our upcoming release
Those are needs we always really have, but, we can always use an extra hand in the lead-up to release. Right now, if we could have a lot of attention put on our bug tracker for confirming bugs, figuring out what has been fixed, tagging things, and just getting it in better shape for the bug hunt, it will make a world of difference to the people trying to fix things.
If anyone is interested in participating, please feel free to reply, hop on irc/jabber to discuss, or just jump right to it. :) If you need any information, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Cheers, Josh

Ready, willing and able to help where ever I can.
We need volunteers for the following tasks:
Testing SVN/Nightly Build (windows and osx especially)
Can't help much with win or macos unfortunately - but happy to test on ubuntu (and possibly debian ppc) to confirm or refute if it's a platform specific issue.
Reviewing and triaging Bug Reports
This is really important - and a great way to bring 'users' into the community.
Digging around on the wiki I found this... http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/BugTriageProjects
Might be a good place to start with updating this so its relevant for the 0.47 release
Putting together a HowTo on Bug Triage, confirm, refute etc... could be useful... I'm still learning how to do it myself though, so we need input from our crack Triage team to review, tag and triage bugs.
Updating Tutorials & Documentation Reviewing Release Notes for accuracy/completion Writing PR/Announcements for our upcoming release
This is something else I can probably help with too.
cheers Donna
PS - Hi! I only just joined the dev list tonight. Inkscape rocks. You're all stars!

Non programmers har dificults to undestand SVN copy and compilation... Will be really good if the installers was updated nightly for the testers:

I send your call to the Inkscape Brasil mailing-list. Someone may help... :-)

Writing PR/Announcements for our upcoming release
I have copied the PR announcement plan from 0.46 and changed the dates, and started working on the draft informal announcement. http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/AnnouncePlanning047
We will also need help translating this into other languages!
Just as important as working on the words is getting our list of contacts and sources up to date. We need to get the word out wide and far, and think creatively about how to tell the Inkscape release story, and who to tell that story to!
We can all start generating buzz by talking to people about Inkscape - posting in blogs, twitter, identi.ca - and design and drawing forums...
Perhaps add a note to your email signature like I've done at the bottom of this email...
... other off-line ideas ...
* Design posters or flyers and put them on noticeboards at schools and universities, perhaps leave some flyers at the local gallery...
* Have a local release party - perhaps there's only 1 or 2 of you in your town - but plan to get together, and look around for others who might be interested.
* Do a demo at your local user group or swap meet.
Local events to promote the release gives you a chance to publicise the release in local media...
What other ideas do you have?
cheers Donna

Let me remind everyone there is an Inkscape Documentation project open on http://en.flossmanuals.net/Inkscape
It would be cool if it could be updated asap. I'm preparing LGM09 so i will be too short in the followings days but if anyone wants to join, please do.

Yes, we could use help with this.
If you're interested in helping, the best place to start is the inkscape-docs list, as that's where we coordinate our efforts.
