Pages extension and page numbers.
I downloaded the "pages" package to go with 48.2. Unfortunately when you get to "Master Page" and try to insert an automatic page number you get very deep into python-world. It requires lxml which in turn requires something else etc. etc. I long ago gave up chasing such asymptotic strings of requirements AKA library hell.
Would it be possible to package this extension with all the required pieces included? Or reprogram it so that the lxml etc. were not required? I recognize that the author is a python enthusiast. But I am not. And there must be a simpler way to insert consecutive page numbers on a master page. I will do it by hand if necessary.
I use Slackware 13.37

Never mind. Found a way to get the package.

I have no idea what the pages package does exactly, nor what your exact requirements are, but have you tried JessyInk? It's made for creating presentations, but it should at least allow you to put consecutive page numbers of different pages/sheets (the page numbers won't appear in the original SVG, but will appear in the presentation, wich can then be exported, see the JessyInk site for more information).

Happily I found a way to download the missing library and now things are working. I also figured out how to go to the last page and the first page of a stack. The instructions are a bit unclear about moving thefocus up one page or back one page.
Jessylink sounds interesting. Can it be set up for auto advance?

At the moment, JessyInk does not yet support auto-advancing.
