Can you write some documentation for "how to remove all traces of autopackage"? I think this issue was what was screwing up Carl's box too, but it was not apparent what to do to remove all the previously installed stuff. The docs would be quite helpful.

We can update this as the downloads page gets fixed up. I wrote this because it seems to me that this is where autopackage's killer feature is. For Gentoo and Debian systems, the dependency resolution mechanisms are solid enough that autopackage may not be as necessary on those distros, IMHO. However yes we should clarify the download page to be more factually accurate.

I'd like to thank the Inkscape developers for bearing with us while we iron out the teething problems here, I'm sure it must be annoying for those who aren't interested in packaging to have the list filled up with this stuff. It's appreciated though!

I think the way we should think about autopackage is as an investment in our future - both for Inkscape and for Open Source in general. It addresses that big white elephant that few like to think about - it's painful for new Linux users to install ordinary apps like Inkscape. I think Autopackage is going to lead the way to inspiring the next generation of Linux installation technology. It's cool that Inkscape can help raise awareness for Autopackage while at the same time serving its own self-interest in making it easier for people to install the program. Anyway, so thanks back to you guys - keep up the good work! :-)
