There is some potentially very good news for GTK+ on Mac OSX. Apparently, there is a new effort to try to port it natively. (There was a previous attempt years ago). I don't know if it means Fink-less and/or X-less, but this could be awesome for us fd.o fans. http://gnomedesktop.org/node/2483

I gather it is usable now, though there remains work to do: see http://developer.imendio.com/wiki/Gtk_Mac_OS_X/Things_to_do for tens of things you can work on to help complete this project. Each item is rated easy to hard; quite a few are marked `easy', so you should be able to find something with good ratio of satisfaction payoff to work.
