I'm asking purely as a user who, possibly incorectly, thinks that the changes made in gtkmmification will make future progress of Inkscape quicker and easier...
I could't help but notice the hubub centered around rwst's recent refactoring. But I confess I don't understand much of what is going on or what significance it has.
What is the current status of the gtkmmification? Is there a list of gtkmmification goals notated with those that have been completed? What does it mean that there is a canvas in --new-gui? What does it mean that we need to use Actions?
Clue Seeking, Aaron Spike
Aaron, I answered some of that in an earlier priv. mail but like to see others' take on it. Only those two:
What does it mean that there is a canvas in --new-gui?
You can observe the beauty of your default.svg (File Open isn't implemented yet, nor any tools)
What does it mean that we need to use Actions?
That is a change under the hood which is only planned but the right (C++, Gtkmm) way to organize the widget code, maybe even necessary for ext. keybindings. We use Actions already in the menu (Verbs).
