With the latest build (040103) Inkscape generates a preferences.xml. I can modify it and Inkscape will NOT use the modifications on its next run. This is terrible. It is worse than the previous two builds, since I now cannot change preferences.
Mental, I think you were the last to change that part, could you please have a look?

It's using the same preferences code on Win32 and Unix now (no more #ifdefs, aside from for _mkdir) ... has anyone been having problems with preferences not being saved on Unix?
(I haven't had time to double-check yet -- obviously I will do so now soon, but I believe it worked when I tried it under Unix)
