I've penned a short article for our website:
https://inkscape.org/en/news/2017/06/10/inkscape-moves-gitlab/
Please post to any other places where inkscape development is tracked.
Best Regards, Martin Owens
Thank you :) (It's not so short, btw.)

Two questions:
1. The news post links to https://inkscape.org/en/develop/inkscape-git/ that also doesn't mention the repository's URL. So where does one check out the source code from? :)
2. How does one request push access?
Alex
I'm assuming the normal approach which is to fetch, create new branch, make changes and push to the remote, then generate a pull request when author thinks its ready for comments and acceptance - then go through a series of hopefully minor changes. Resulting in the the pull request being accepted and merged - then delete the branch.
and do it again...
Its probably different for the core team who will be managing the merging and primary dev
but I'm guessing from my experience on github ???

Hi Alex,
I think both happen here: https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inkscape
We're planning to rename the linked page, to make it clearer what it is (a git tutorial).
The web page that describes how to get started is... https://inkscape.org/en/develop/getting-started/
Kind Regards, Maren

Link added to news and news translations (btw. the website is pretty slow - we made it into hacker news, and pro-linux, too :) ).

The comments on those two pages are very interesting.

Some other news:

(I'm really jealous of this writeup, it's got effort and skill)

Someone from gitlab apparently asking us what we need for issues tracker.
Oddly the wikipedia page for launchpad: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L aunchpad_(website) since Inkscape was quite a big project on launchpad.
Interesting.

It should link to this one too https://inkscape.org/en/develop/getting- started/ but the same ommission of requesting push access is there (I'm not even sure, except to follow the gitlab 'request access' push button)
