Huge thanks for your bugfixes today. Having fixed the spoonshapes, maybe you can also look at the continuity problem? It's not exactly a bug, but each segment of a freehand line is approximated without taking into account previous segments, and as a result, all nodes on the path are cusp, to various degrees. It would be much nicer if the approximator would take into account a wider context to create smooth nodes most of the time (and only creating cusps when there are really sharp turns). Do you think this is possible/easy with the current code?

Yes. Congratulations on the spoonshapes fix. I checked it this morning and did not get one.
I second bulias comment on the continuity problem. A lot of my work involves the freehand tool and I nearly always need smooth nodes. The current default generation of cusp nodes means extra work. My rare need for cusp nodes can easily be done on a one-off basis.
