Re: [Inkscape-devel] Google Summer of Code 2008
----- Original message -----
I've put in the application for Inkscape to participate in GSoC 2008.
Great, thanks for doing that!
I was thinkimg that we should put two additional comments there, but I wanted to run them by everyone:
* Applicants should consider fixing one current Inkscape bug and including it's number in their application.
* Applicants are encouraged to post their proposals to the inkscape-devel list for discussion before submitting them to Google.
Thoughts?

Can we reword that to "at least one bug.." if we're getting people fixing bugs, might as well encourage them not to stop :D

FWIW,
On http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/SOC_Application_Template linked to from http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/Googles_Summer_Of_Code_2008
there is already the following under Tasks:
- Introduce yourself on the Inkscape developers mailing listhttp://lists.sourceforge.net/mailman/listinfo/inkscape-devel, and post your project ideas for feedback, before submitting your application
- Find and fix one or two bugs in the Inkscape bug trackerhttp://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=93438&atid=604306. Create and upload patches for the bugs, and make sure we know to connect those bug fixes and your GSoC application.

Yes, please add these. I was up late doing this so probably missed some necessary details like these.
