I'm working against a clean debian stable environment now, I think. The current problem appears to be with an undocumented dependency on ImageMagick (I think on an old version of ImageMagick). ImageMagick doesn't show up in this list:

I know I've seen that librt error before as well, though I don't recall what the fix was or if it was needed.
