Solved it myself with just a few more tweaks after sending out the mail....

OK, I finally managed to get the BBoxes right and the rotation and the transformation along with the appropriate magic to get the ghostscript driver to accept the %% directives. I'm not sure if this is conforming PS-2.0 or not, but it works for me for the time being. Maybe after I'm done with this stuff I'll dust off my postscript books and do a little work on sodipodi output.
