Hi to all.
In the page http://inkscape.org/en/download/source/ there are two tarball icons.
I think they are too big, maybe can be reduced 60-70% and change the tool box by a sigle item like a nut or a partial wrench, because there are too much detail for a icon in the, beatiful, tool box.
Maybe this icons are beter at start instead the end.
Regards, Jabier.

The combination of the Inkscape logo and the flat, cartoon-style toolbox looks really bad. Moreover, a toolbox would be more appropriate for utilities. Much better icons could be made by using the Tango package icon and superimposing it with the Inkscape logo.

I take some time free and make examples of superimposig whith the tango package icon, using and smallest of all in inkscape-logo-icons-sized.svg from the inkscape source.
I love the flat one, but think it break the corporate identity of inkscape.

I don't have much of an opinion on which is best. However, the images should be the same on the Windows/Linux/OSX pages. And they should be SVGs with PNG fallback. You can see how to do this by looking at the source code. The Inkscape Logo, Twitter button, and check marks (on the home page) are SVGs.

If this, my opinion is use a icon whith downside links, like windows page one. Maybe put, textual only, links in the tarboll list or delete this list.
I think is good redesign a bit this download icon.
