Inkscape SVG Animation Interface

This is just a quick mock-up of an idea for an Inkscape SVG animation interface.

DISCLAIMER: I'm merely an Inkscape user. I don't know anything about programming or GUI design - and I also don't pretend to know.
This is just submitted to give some general idea of what, from the perspective of a this user, may or may not be the bare basics to add such a neat and powerful tool into the Inkscape tool box.
Note: This would ideally be an additional window within Inkscape.
The genius of its construction/destruction is left to you in the wonderful world of Inkscape development.
With a handshake...

Thanks.
That's a good way for us to get an idea of what users might want to be able to accomplish work with.
The more different viewpoints and workflows we get, the better choices we can make.

Thanks for providing it as a link. (The attachement and the other shorter post also got though to the list)

You might be interested to read the Gnome Human Interface Guidelines http://developer.gnome.org/projects/gup/hig/
Or perhaps these two websites http://asktog.com/ (Website of Bruce Tognazzi) http://useit.com/ (Website of Jakob Nielsen, mostly focussed on web design)
Animation support is a way off in the future as you can see from the Inkscape roadmap but if a developer takes an interest things might always happen sooner. http://inkscape.org/roadmap.php
Depending on what you mean by Animation then InkView might be of interest to you. Inkview is not Animation software, but it is intended for Viewing SVG files and can be used for simple Presentations.

I'm interested by the point you make: "ideally be an additional window" because I believe Animation is a complicated task that merits a seperate application (a seperate window and tools). It would of course make sense to build upon the existing foundations of Inkscape and have a shared core and similar user interface. I expect this is already obvious to the developers given how many features Inkscape has already It would be difficult to make room for all the tools needed to created a good Animation tool.
I would be interested to know if your ideas are inspired by any applications in particular or if you were trying to come up with something original. I've used Macromedia Flash a little and it might have interesting ideas worth considering.
