Heisenbug suggests, in bug #499310 (preview cutoff at 1.3 MB too small for images, https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/499310), that we set a higher file preview size limit. The current value is 1.3Mo, and the suggested one is 10Mo. Is this value acceptable?

I think that we should increase it, and no matter what we choose it will work for some and not for others. So, going to 10Mb will at least reduce the number of "too little" complaints :) Can you please commit this change and update the release notes?

That would be a clear case of ''too much preferences". Its effect would be too hard to estimate for the user, too wordy to explain in the docs, too bothersome generally. A pref is warranted where changing something represents clearly different approaches to your work. For things like this, we just have to find a value that works for _most_.

New size committed in revision 9086. On my computer (Core2duo E720 @2.53GHz), it takes about 4 seconds to preview a 9Mb jpg file. To be under a 1 second delay, I have to reduce the file to 4Mb, and thus a 5Mb limit looks more appropriate. Could someone confirm this delay? I don't want to increase the number of "too slow" complaints ;)
