Hi all,
Who, on Linux, can reproduce this bug? http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1679218&gro... d=93438&atid=604306
And who can't :-)
1. touch test.jpg 2. open inkscape and browse to test.jpg in the open file dialog. Either you should see: ** Message: Gdk::PixbufError in SVGPreview::showImage which is good.
Or you see something different, which is what I am seeing and is not good.

A minute ago I was really confused because Inkscape seemed to randomly decide whether it wanted to crash or not. :) But now I think I understand what's happening and can report the following behaviour (on Debian unstable, using latest SVN (rev #16543)).
Both "File->Open->test.jpg" and "File->Import->test.jpg" consistently yield:
** Message: error loading pixbuf at close GdkPixbuf loader failed
The difference is that "File->Import" allows me to use Inkscape without problems afterwards. However, any drawing action after "File->Open" leads to a crash with the additional message:
** ERROR **: file document-undo.cpp: line 171 (void sp_document_maybe_done(SPDocument*, const gchar*, unsigned int, Glib::ustring)): assertion failed: (doc->priv->sensitive) aborting...
(Note that the drawing action itself can be performed as usual, the crash occurs upon mouse release).
Here is a backtrace:
#0 0xb6e7c7d6 in raise () from /lib/libc.so.6 #1 0xb6e7e0f1 in abort () from /lib/libc.so.6 #2 0xb735b9f9 in g_logv () from /usr/lib/libglib-2.0.so.0 #3 0xb735ba39 in g_log () from /usr/lib/libglib-2.0.so.0 #4 0xb735bab6 in g_assert_warning () from /usr/lib/libglib-2.0.so.0 #5 0x0814cd4d in sp_document_maybe_done (doc=0x858bd6f, key=0x0, event_type=12, event_description=@0xbfbcb6ac) at document-undo.cpp:171 #6 0x0814cf4c in sp_document_done (doc=0x8878e40, event_type=12, event_description=@0xbfbcb754) at document-undo.cpp:123 #7 0x0808b9d5 in file_import (in_doc=0x8878e40, uri=@0xbfbcb79c, key=0x0) at file.cpp:961 #8 0x0808c075 in sp_file_import (parentWindow=@0x907a898) at file.cpp:1020 #9 0x083608d0 in sp_action_perform (action=0x887ee00, data=0x0) at helper/action.cpp:181 #10 0xb7425b89 in g_cclosure_marshal_VOID__VOID () from /usr/lib/libgobject-2.0.so.0 #11 0xb7418722 in g_closure_invoke () from /usr/lib/libgobject-2.0.so.0 #12 0xb742927d in ?? Hope this helps, Max
I can confirm this on my box also, Maximilian - everything you said is the same for me.

On Gentoo with SVN 16543 I get
** Message: Gdk::PixbufError in SVGPreview::showImage ** Message: error loading pixbuf at close GdkPixbuf loader failed
but otherwise no ill-effects. Program continues normally and everything works.
