What about to use translations.launchpad.net? May be useful...
Hi all,
What you think about to use the web based launchpad's l10n system? https://translations.launchpad.net/inkscape
I think that will be really more ease to get collaboration from our users.
Gwibber is using this system.
Cool? Aurium
I think Alexanre Prokoudine have few words to protest against :)

I'm still out of breath after my last tirade. And besides what would be the point of it? Canonical doesn't care to listen to upstream projects it depends on. They just keep importing translations anyway. Last time (about a monthe ago) I checked and both Inkscape's and GIMP's translations were imported to Rosetta, and GIMP's translation was even changed by some noob with no sense of language or translation standards.

If the projects having low quality translations are open to any participation that can be a problem. But AFAIK launchpad allows to create translation groups composed by selected people. Have somebody tried that?

This was discussed a few months back on the translators mailing list and the gist is that a majority felt that it would not be a step forward given their own experience with other projects using it. It sounded like a lot would need to get fixed before people would entertain the idea.
