Generating User handwriting fonts

Hi, My name is Swayamjeet Swain, am from IIT ROORKEE, India. I am wishing to apply for GSOC 2019 and have been working quite a bit towards it. I have been using Inkscape quite extensively, especially for CNC and plotting tasks and have been making extensive changes to the current Hershey's text extension available in Inkscape.
I have indeed expanded it to take in whole PDF documents and generate single line texts and tweaked the fonts library to make my handwriting's unique font. (Fun part is that I submit my practicals and college assignments by using a plotter which I made and generating gcodes for these single line fonts, as the fonts we generally use are incompatible (no one writes like that).)
I am adept at python,c and c++ , and I am looking forward to make a project which can generate handwriting fonts after taking in written alphabet's image from the user.
But I am indeed a bit unsure if this is an acceptable project to be included as an feature or am I moving towards making another extension (and if that too works). I have already built Inkscape and have been going through the code. Please suggest how I should proceed.
Thanks Swayamjeet (Swayne) IIT Roorkee
P.S. This mail feel like bursting a big bubble. Thanks to the other aspirants for the confidence.

Hi Swayne, I'm the original author of the Hershey Text extension. I've been rewriting Hershey Text with some major changes and a new version is almost ready. (See https://gitlab.com/inkscape/extensions/merge_requests/25#note_145678292 for discussion.)
The changes that are underway do not overlap with the ideas of generating handwriting fonts from PDF documents, and I expect the current set of changes to be complete (and ready for you to build upon) by the GSoC start date. I am not involved with Inkscape's GSoC program, but wanted you to be aware of other work underway and for you to know that we all welcome your efforts.
