Hello. Curious about your stance on agg2...
Hello.
I was wondering what you inkscape developers think of agg2? ( www.antigrain.com ).
It's very VERY fast ( faster than libart from what testing I've seen ) and it's C++ based. It features patterns and all sorts of things.. it's fully featured enough for an SVG program.
It would seem to be an excellent match for the C++ rewrite of inkscape.
I'm not a great programmer but perhaps I could help out somehow...

Looks very interesting. Another render we've been looking quite seriously at is Cairo. In any case, we're planning on moving off of libart and are definitely in the market for something superior.

We love welcoming new developers onboard - have you had a chance to build the codebase from source?
Once you've gotten it compiled, the best thing to do is just dive in and find someplace that seems intriguing to you to work on. One thing that's cool about the codebase is that once you've got your bearings it's not too hard to find yourself making nice improvements to it.
In any case, hop on jabber to chat with the other developers, especially if you've got more questions.

Yes, I had a look at it, it is, I believe the library used internally by the current cairo implementation. I wasn't majorly impressed by it however, it seems to just be a more polished version of libart with an incompatible license. I'll have a closer look soon.
