Only three people have signed up as mentors for GSoC so far: acspike, ted, and mrdocs. If you're willing to serve as a GSoC mentor for Inkscape, please go to this address and sign up:

I'm hoping someone might be willing to mentor a possible text project :) I found those who were more knowledgeable in Inkscape if not text were also useful, so it doesn't have to be Richard if he's not available.
I should also mention now that I am considering applying for another project this year, too. A colleague of mine is mentoring something with augmented reality, which may relate to my thesis, so it could be worth jumping on that opportunity. Having said that, I hope to work more on text with or without SoC, it just might be delayed until the fall ;) I wanted to work on it more this year, but courses were more demanding than I had hoped. I think (think!) thesis-time could offer more flexibility.
