Hi Jona,
the Wiki is mainly for development info / planning and discussion (in English), the user info in it is outdated in large areas (also the English part of it). Only the release notes, and a few hand-picked pages that we are working on transferring to inkscape.org merit translation, imho. We are currently working towards making the website at inkscape.org the main user info page.
We have quite a big French translators team for the main website, but they are all very busy people and I believe they would be happy about your support.
Also, there was a new, introductory, user manual in French written which needs translation to English - we will need more volunteers to make that accessible to a larger audience (and also to make translations to other languages possible).
Would you maybe be willing to help with any of these?
Or do you have suggestions which pages should be added to the main web site? (send them to docs mailing list, where this is being discussed)
(we'd also need your favourite nick name for your Wiki account, if you want to polish the pages there - release notes would be the most important, in my eyes, as there is no equivalent over at inkscape.org)
