cannot perform 'bzr pull' command on Inkscape trunk, Windows 10
I normally update my trunk using the pull command. Recently (within the last week) it has started failing with the error:
C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\InkscapeBZR>bzr pull Using saved parent location: bzr+ssh://bazaar.launchpad.net/~inkscape.dev/inkscape/trunk/ Connected (version 2.0, client Twisted) bzr: ERROR: [Error 5] Access is denied: 'c:\users\penne_~1\appdata\local\temp\tmpizpzsf.pag'
C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\InkscapeBZR>bzr revno 15264
my most recent successful pull was:
C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\InkscapeBZR>bzr version-info revision-id: marcjeanmougin@...3449... date: 2016-11-11 21:05:31 +0100 build-date: 2016-11-22 06:49:20 -0500 revno: 15238 branch-nick: InkscapeBZR
I ran these commands from an administrator DOS window, although it would not normally be necessary to do so.
thanks in advance, Alvin

Hi Alvin,
have you tried cleaning out your temp directory and/or restarting your machine?
The line
bzr: ERROR: [Error 5] Access is denied: 'c:\users\penne_~1\appdata\local\temp\tmpizpzsf.pag'
sounds a lot like a general file access issue not directly related to Bazaar.
Maybe also try disabling potential security software (a virus scanner might prevent Bazaar to create the file...).
Regards, Eduard

Hi, yes, I have restarted and have cleaned out the temp directory so it is empty. The file tmp9-ffrh.pag actually is created. (The name is different than last time, but the location is the same.) It does not seem to be read-only and it is essentially empty. I am attaching a screenshot of the first few bytes, the rest is empty.

Other than that I am not aware of any changes I have made since the last successful pull.

well, the problem went away. I just did another pull, on rev 15266, and it appears to have worked. (I guess it sensed that I was toying with the idea of doing a 'bzr revert'.)
sorry for the noise, Alvin

Great you could "solve" it!
If that's not something to discuss on the devel list what is...
Either way I'm looking forward to working with git. The strange issues I had with bzr so far (especially on Windows) - mostly with error messages only loosely related to the actual problem - are a big annoyance. With git (which was the first VCS I ever worked with!) everything always worked out of the box and exactly in the way I'd supposed it to work, so I guess (even if some people have to change their habits) it will make it much more convenient for people to contribute to Inkscape!
Regards Eduard
