
As a result of my and mental's copying code from sodipodi, now it's possible to set xml:space=preserve via xml editor on a tspan, and the multiple adjacent spaces will not be combined into one as they are now. Does anyone else think it might be a good idea to add this attribute by default to all newly created text objects?

I think so, yes. For mechanically generated SVG I can see the point, but within the context of a text editor, having multiple spaces combined to one seems more like a mis-feature.
