Snaping should be done only on bbox.
Greetings.
Newbie here. I chatted with bbyak and we found that snapping is done on both bbox and nodes by default. This gives an odd snapping behavior to path objects with large strokes, very counter intuitive, and with a perceived snapping to a grid finer than the one which is currently set. bbyak believes that snapping should be done on bbox only by default, and leave to experienced users to set snapping on both types in the preferences dialog, if he desire.
So, I propose that default snapping be done only on bbox. If we agree, can someone bring the change to the code?
BTW, great tool. I fell in love with it.

Hi,
How did you turn snapping on? When you see these problems, which options are checked in the Grid tab of Document Preferences?
Thanks
Carl

Starting Inkscape with a new canvas, I noticed that grid snaping is off by default, so its my mistake when I asked for the default to be changed (altough, I would prefer snaping on by default, but that is another debat).
I had both snap to bbox and points on. So I just turn off points, and snaping is better, but I still notice some odd behavior. For instance, I created a simple path and when moving the path, I notice that while is often snaps to the grid (jumps from one snap point to another), sometimes I can move the path only 2 pixel further. Its as if my path would have two snaping points...
There is something wrong with snaping. I notice that when I create a path with bbox snaping on only (no point snaping), all the points I create snap. Once the path is completed, I move the path along the grid. But after the move, the points do not align anymore with the grid. While they should, they are a bit off.
Just play with the different snaping options and move your paths... move them slowly. Notice how sometimes they will move off only 2 bits... I have a grid settings of 0.10x and 0.10y expressed in inches. I often have to resnap my lines after moving them...
