Hi all,
At the Inkscape board meeting on IRC last week we started to think about our next Hackfest. While not absolutely necessary, it might be useful to couple it with a conference as we did last year with LGM. LGM will be in London this year[1] (April 15-18) and that is certainly a possibility but we also would like to look at other conferences. Does anybody have suggestions for other conferences that would be appealing to Inkscapers? Other conferences mentioned include FOSDEM[2], SCALE[3] and OSBridge[4]. Has anybody been to these conferences?
Thanks,
Tav

I never went to FOSDEM but this is very close to my home… and I have so few money to travel… :-)
On the other hand I was in LGM in Brussels in 2010 and that's a wonderful souvenir !!!

I have heard only good things about FOSDEM and thinking about attending it myself next year for my first time (non Inkscape stuff) but it's all up in the air due to current work situation.

I have been in FOSDEM few times (three or four) -- because of the Ada DevRoom -- and I like it. I find it very alive and the organization runs smoothly. Strictly personal opinion, of course.

What might be nice is to have convention style name badges, like these I'm making for my London Linux meetup group: https://www.dropbox.com/s/a8v89w8amz5d5lh/london_linux_nametag_render.png?dl...
Not everyone is comfortable posting their picture on the internet, so these are a great way to match screen names and avatars with faces in-person at these events.
I can provide an inkscape template if desired.

I'll definitely be at the London LGM. Let me know what materials you need graphics wise and I'll prepare them for your presentations etc. On 7 Oct 2015 10:09 am, "Tavmjong Bah" <tavmjong@...8...> wrote:
