Based on user feedback I do have confirmation that Inkscape 0.48.2 runs fine on Mountain Lion [1]. There are however two changes Apple introduced with Mountain Lion which users need to take care of - I had added them to the FAQ last week:
Please correct/update the FAQ entries as needed.

[1] Known limitation: the issue with the currently available package Inkscape 0.48.2 (python-based extensions not running out-of-the-box on OS X 10.7 Lion) of course also affects OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion: https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/819209
