My only concern is what do you do when there are more than like 20 objects selected at once? Don't you think at a certain point the amount of sub-bounding boxes would be overwhelming?
That is possible. It has never bothered me in the past, but we'll have to see how we get on. Perhaps we could increase the transparency of the boxes as the number of items increases, or something.

In short: I'm against boxes (messy!) but individual items in a selection can and should be marked somehow, for example as Xara does that by adding a small inverted square (like a handle but smaller) at the top left corner of each object's bounding box.

Cool Bulia. Could you provide a screenshot of this functionality in XARA. I think this would help usability in our app.
