In our three icons sets we have three different depictions of link and unlink for edit_clone and edit_unlink_clone. The legacy set features a yellow line. The new crispy set features a padlock. And David's set features a chain.
I prefer the chain. It means something to me. When I see the chain I immediately think about "link". For me this is a better iconification of the concept. Is this a cultural issue? Would anyone else prefer the chain over the lock? Perhaps icon sets need to be localized. :-)

Hmm, I think I like the chain better, too.

Locking layers is something we will need icons for later so using them in this context would be inappropriate.
