Well, I'm learning Mozilla Thundermail now, and hopefully I keep sending to Inkscape-devel list for the least, and not to the guy that responded. Anyways...
Nice!
That being said, with Shlomi Fish reply about the picture being too big. I'm gonna drop the file to imgur, and put up a link. - http://i.imgur.com/Yd6aQsE.jpg
Unfortunately, the original .png file was still attached to the message. But thanks for trying!
As you guys can see in the picture, Maya 2016 have failed to import a very simple plain svg file. However, Maya 2016 seem to work just fine with Adobe Illustrator SVG. What can one do about this issue?
Can you send us an SVG file that Adobe Illustrator exported and that Maya was able to import fine?

I'll try to reply to all participants
1. Which error are you getting? What are the symptoms of the problem? You can see in the pink bar below in Autodesk Maya 2. Does the SVG file validate? It imports well on Inkscape, but it fails to import in Maya.
I was asking whether it validates as valid, standard, SVG - see https://duckduckgo.com/?q=svg+validator&ia=web
3. Can you share it?
As attached.
Thanks!
Shlomi

Some of you may have heard of the fact that Autodesk is now supporting SVG, and to be fair, that was long overdue, but at least one is closer to having the choice of ditching AI8 format once and for all for a universal format. I'm having a issue importing a 1 KB optimized SVG from Inkscape.

A quick google search shows that this is a maya bug and that they are aware of it[1]. From some forum posts[2] the problem disappears when using only straight lines or basic shapes, some other posts suggest that you should only have one path in your document (everything should be unioned[3]). Also other posts mention that there are similar problems with illustrator svgs[4].
Whatever it is, you might have more luck asking the maya guys about it: "Unexpected number of points for SVG path" sounds like "we're trying to do something but not sure what, and it failed"
I guess at this point they're aware of this issue, and I really find it odd that they cannot work with anything more than simple shapes or only just 1 path restriction. Going from their 2017 demo, they are taking a bit too long with the SVG import implementation or maybe they don't really care that much, and I wouldn't be very surprised. Oh well, thanks guys.
