Great news.
Today the stable release of Inkscape 0.46 Win32 is up on sourceforge. Thanks to many who tested and several who fixed bugs. This release has been a real team effort.
The installer file is here; http://downloads.sourceforge.net/inkscape/Inkscape-0.46.win32.exe
And the zip file (non-installer) versions and windows specific source will follow very soon.

Rygle

Rygle,
congratulations and many thanks for your effort. I downloaded the installer and run Inkscape with no issues. I have noted the advanced patch 09 :-) Thx. Max.

It may just be my system but I have just downloaded the installer and run it. It did notice the previous version of Inkscape installed (0.45+0.46pre0) but it failed to find the uninstall.log and stuff and failed to uninstall the previous version automatically hence advised to simply clear the directory. I know it is fine, but some users may find it confusing. In particular since ale the uninstaller files where there and running uninstall by hand worked OK.

I had the same problem when I wanted to quickly try a windows release on my sister's laptop (since I don't run windows :-P). I seem to remember that the error message about the missing uninstall file mentioned a slightly different name than the existing file. Maybe this is what causes the issue.
But there was a second problem. I had installed Inkscape in C:\Programme\ instead of C:\Program Files\ (i.e., I had used the German name of the folder). Then wen I tried to do a manual uninstallation by double clicking on uninstall.exe, Inkscape reported that it had successfully removed all the files, but it tried to remove them from C:\Program Files, not from the folder where Inkscape was really installed. So after the uninstall process, the old installation was still there.
HTH, Max

This is a false positive. The NSIS library I used to create a log file of all installed files is looking for that. But I do not use this library during uninstall. But I check the MD5-checksums first and if they match the file will be deleted. I do not know where to disable that popup.

Hm, instead of checking the location of uninstall it checks the registry key set during installation. So there might be an issue there. Maybe one was installed asa Admin the other as simple user ... Could you please post a bug-report for that. So I will not forget.

As a side note, I think it would be nice if the installer could include an option to select installation language in the first step.
I did try to play with the script following: http://nsis.sourceforge.net/Examples/Modern%20UI/MultiLanguage.nsi a little bit but with no success.
I know people often use English windows and still install localised software and it would certainly make testing installer localization easier.

That's indeed great news!
The "download now" button on our frontpage (which is only visible for Windows users) however still links to v0.45.1. Can someone update this please?

I've updated this link to grab its url from download/packages-url.inc, so it should now always point to the current release package from now on and need not be updated manually.
Cheers, Michael
