Thinking about this, aside from the compilation issues, there's not really much more to do on the LayerManager side of things -- it's essentially complete. We just need to hook it up so that each SPDesktop has an associated LayerManager, and then the rest is gtkmm work.

I only wanted to ask if there is more code than this ~50 lines in SVN for layer-manager.cpp since i wanted to code on the layer manager.

What is the gtkmm work to be done?
Also, do you have any of the code not yet checked in for it? Might as well check it all in even if slightly broken - would give others stuff to help on.

I'm actually wondering where the compile issues should be. I tested the code also with placing it in desktop-widget.cpp (sp_desktop_widget_new() and alternative init()). I had no problems compiling layer-manager.cpp within mingw.
