Hi, I just installed this package an when I run inkscape I get the following output and a core dump: Notes: -libpng12.so.0 is available at /usr/lib/libpng12.so.0 -if I try to run inkscape more than once the preferences.xml file gets truncated and it issues an error for that also.
$ inkscape inkscape: /usr/bin/../lib/libpng12.so.0: no version information available (required by inkscape) art_render_invoke: no image source given
Emergency save activated! Emergency save completed. Inkscape will close now. If you can reproduce this crash, please file a bug at www.inkscape.org with a detailed description of the steps leading to the crash, so we can fix it. Segmentation fault (core dumped)
Is this enough to file a bug?
Cheers,

Is that you with the bug report that adds the info you installed on top of cvs? Please try to install separately and report back.
Oh, and where do we put the warning not to do such a thing?

I don't know what you're talking about. The information I provided in my previous message was to ask if that information would be enough for someone to trace down a bug.

I didn't mention anything about cvs, the installation I'm talking about was done with the package Aaron mentioned:

To clarify, someone (anonymous) just submitted the bug report on the tracker
[ 1243186 ] crash Hi, here (Mandriva 2005, pre3 autapackage installed 'on top of' a buit of CVS), inkscape crashes on startup...
and I assumed it was you due to temporal proximity.
Also, I have heard that it is not good to mix CVS and normal installation, so I would like to ask the person (as I did on tracker but hey) to please install again separately from his/her CVS installation.
Apologies for inconveniencies, ralf

Hmm, offhnd with only this info it's not clear what the issue is; I'd encourage collecting additional info, such as png library version information, details of how you installed it, etc. Running it through gdb and getting a backtrace couldn't hurt either. See Reporting Bugs on the website for details.
