Hi all,
To know each other a little better I propose to ad a section of "who made Inkscape" @ www.inkscape.org
Since it's Free and Open Source Software (aka FOSS), we don't "get paid". More or less, I don't believe in an ego (read Minsky for more info about the buddhist concept of no-self/anata)... BUT one of the ways of "getting paid" in the hackers (as in software developer of software libre) world is to: be recognized as good software developers.
ie: I can put the following line: "human-machine interface software developer of inkscape" in my resume (Curriculum Vitae) to get a job... since (I) "have the habit of eating" ^_^
I propose that we elect some developers and put one 512x512px mini-blog image (at most). I chose to be the last entry (in this year, 2007 CE). ...I don't care about ego. (...flam3s over the Net pass through emptyness, aka insults to me are ignored so don't even try =P). This images can link to our personal websites... etc
...we lose ~75% of communication when chosing "plain text communication" instead of "real-world personal in-the-same-place communication" so, any questions about this simple idea?

There already is such a section in the wiki: http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/ContactInfo and also the blog aggregator: http://planet.inkscape.org/

Why not leave as now, freeform so anyone can use the desired layout for his own user page?

There are many other places where you can see Inkscape people communicating in more than plain text, like http://inkscapers.deviantart.com/

I really think you should read AUTHORS and TRANSLATORS files, Inkscape's about dialog, planet.inkscape.org and the developer list at SF[1]. As you can see, we already have many places to give the right credit to our contributors.

Hi all,

As others have pointed out this information is available in other places such as the AUTHORS and translators files, and the FAQ mentions the history of Inkscape and the "founders".
If you are serious about your idea something you might do is create a page in the Wiki, something along the lines of "People behind Inkscape" and collect links pointing to some of the places already mentioned. (Note, I would suggest you aim for a link to a place where the latest versions of the AUTHORS files could be seen rather than copying across a list that would need to be updated manually.)
ie: I can put the following line: "human-machine interface software developer of inkscape" in my resume (Curriculum Vitae) to get a job... since (I) "have the habit of eating" ^_^
You could do that but it might be best to wait until you are included in the AUTHORS file.
I propose that we elect some developers
If you volunteer to create a page in the wiki and get this started then others could be encouaged to help out but we have no power to elect or compell developers to do it.

A few good photos from events where people have met face to face could certainly help to reinforce the sense of community but this is more likely to come from the people, collecting postings to journals and photo galleries and then linking to them from the Wiki.
