Hi Maren, Well if we aren't going to be working together, going through the wiki to identify pages which need either documentation, moving to the website, or worthy of going on To-Do List page, then maybe I could work on this? I could contact all those in the Repository, asking a few questions, such as which version their extensions work, and what kind of license, and are they interested in having it listed on the website or some kind of official repository. Or if there is a better way to approach it? Well anyway, I'll just say that I'd be glad to work on this, if it is needed.
All best, brynn

Hi Brynn,
yes, extensions would be very valuable indeed.
One thing we would have to do though, before we list them, is to check each one on the list for compatibility with the latest Inkscape version, or at least find out which one is the last version with which they are compatible. Also we will probably not need to list those that come with Inkscape (when 0.93 is released, we may have to add a few, then, see Roadmap: http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/Roadmap).
Many extensions are no longer / not well maintained. And now, with the changes to the extensions function calls in 0.91, many that worked for years for 0.48.x don't work any more.
If their licence allows it, we could also consider to upload the working ones to the website, and add a link to where they come from. Or better to contact the author and ask them to upload to the website. Some kind of 'central repository' would make it very easy for users to find what they need. But always, always we need to add a hint about the Inkscape version they are known to work with, if we don't want to frustrate our users.
I think the developers have also been considering (as a far away feature) a central repository that can be accessed from inside Inkscape, like the plugins for Firefox (oh - that's the text from that Wiki page ;) ).
About the name: I don't know why Martin chose to call them 'Addons'. In German, I just called them the same as the menu entry in Inkscape (there isn't too much choice in German anyway, unless I want to use the English term).

Hi Maren, I just thought of a wiki page that might need to be moved to the website. I often consult this page:
http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/ExtensionsRepository
as often as twice weekly, sometimes. Almost always I'm trying to help someone who posted in a forum, but occasionally I'm looking for myself. Related to extensions repository, I'm trying to make a list of as many Inkscape extensions as I can find, which are not listed here or on the Addons page of the website, which I plan to keep on my website (like the tutorials). But of course I would be glad to share it, or even update that wiki page, if it would be appropriate. Perhaps those who created the extensions had some reason not to list their extension there? I'm not sure, but I'll be glad to add them to the list, if it's appropriate. One more related question. Why is the Addons page called "Addons" and not "Extensions"?
Thanks :-) brynn

Sorry, I somehow sent an empty message. The mouse got away from me, I guess.
I don't really have anything to add.
I just thought the page can't be useful if it's just sitting there not published. So whatever needs to be done to get it out there.
Thanks, brynn

Brynn, your answer seems to have been lost ;) - or maybe this was an accident?

Hi Brynn,
I've just updated your list a little.
- added a link to the corresponding bug reports for those
pages-to-create. Maybe answering to a bug report on lp has a lower entry threshold than posting to this list. I only remembered we had bug reports for this when I looked through them recently.
- as per Martin's request, I separated out the pages to represent a
single task each.
- then there was the discussion about finding translators
French-English for the manual written by Elisa and Nico. I added that, too, while it's currently not officially part of the Inkscape project, I'd think we should do what we can to support their effort.
- Also added a link to the contribute page in the intro text, so
people who do not find a task that fits for them in the list can access more options easily.
- the empty rows are now gone (we can insert a new one easily when we
need it), and there's an alternating background color, so finding each line is easier
Are there any more pages from the Wiki that deserve to be updated and transferred to inkscape.org?
Regards, Maren
