Hello,
Could someone tell me what is the best way to compare, for instance the
English and the French version of the user manual ? Is there a text editor
with an XML parser or something like that, in order to have both versions
one next to the other ? Or does everyone use a simple text editor ?
Hi,
Don't know for others, but I use Gedit - the default GNOME text editor
with syntax highlight.
Earlier we planned to work on new outline first, but it looks like
with 4 people around EN-FR user guides already waiting to get started
or even contributing this will be a major show-stopper.
I have already splitted English user guide into several smaller files
on one-chapter-per-file basis and I'll commit changes as soon as I get
back home. I will do the same for French user guide later today or
tomorrow. Then it will be easier to compare them and sync content,
while restructuring is on planning stage.
As for comparison, if I were you, I would probably use either GVim or
Kate: both can show two documents at the same time in different panes,
IIRC.
