Hi Abdelhak,
thank you for already having a go at playing with the website :D
I'd probably need to mirror the image in my mind to be able to imagine how it will appear to a native RTL reader/writer ;)
Yes, it would help us if you could make a bug report for inkscape-web, at https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape-web , where you request that Arabic be added to the website's languages, and, maybe in a separate report, also give your suggestions for necessary changes (it would be really great if you could append a patch file, some day, of course ;-), but that isn't a requirement).
Any help you can give here will be very much appreciated (we will need the input of someone who knows how things need to look to get it right).
And don't worry, there's no hurry - it sounds like it will become an exciting year for you anyway, even without this kind of undertaking.
Regards, Maren
Hello Maren,
I'm waiting for any sign from Sylvain in case he needs contribution. J'espère que je pourrai aider. Otherwise, for the arabic, it's right that maybe if there was an arabic support for the opensource software, it may help to attract some users. So, i tried using the browser inspector to make some changes and see what happens. I noticed that RTL support is not 100% necessary (some little css style fixes have to be done, but they seem to be easy), You can see that in the screen capture below. I read that i should do a bug report or something to propose the arabic. Can you please advice me ? Also, if we go into something like this i'll have to check other software arabic websites to have a proper idea and make it more professional.
Thanks, Abdelhak S.

Dear Abdelhak,
thank you for the introduction and welcome to the list!
As you may have seen, we have a very well translated (and quite complete) French version of the website, but no Arabic whatsoever (not even available to select from the menu).
Sylvain is currently the main contributor to the French website translations, so he will be the person who will be able to tell you where your help is most needed. He'll also be able to tell you about the status of the French translation of the Inkscape program itself. There are one or two other French translators on the team, but they haven't been very active lately.
As for Arabic, this would be a first, and probably a bit of an experiment. The website layout is currently very static, and I do not know how well it will handle Arabic (or if it will be able to deal with RTL at all, I don't think it will change the menu order without any intervention, for example)
- if you have some time to help there, and some patience so we can
figure out together what will be needed, in co-operation with the website development team, then this would be well worth the effort, I think. There are so many people in the world who speak Arabic, but so few open source websites that offer info for them in an accessible way.
Regards, Maren
Hello,
I hope you all are fine !
So, as Mr. Hachmann adivsed me, i'm sending this e-mail to introduce myself. I'm looking forward to contribute (obviously) to the
translation
part, and this in two languages : French, and perhaps Arabic.
I'm an 18 years old from Oran, Algeria. I'm starting engineering
studies
this year. I started touching graphic design back in 2009 trying every single tool of GIMP, manipulating images, then it was the graphic creation; i also learned some coding and had some experience in front-end development, but that's not the point. In resume, 3 years ago, and
exactly
the day i discovered and understood what Inkscape is, changed my life,
my
approach to design including my abilities. Naturally, it's like a duty
to
contribute to such a project, even with the smallest thing i could do,
and
i hope that i will :)
Have a good day/night eveyone, i would be pleased to have some
responses
and advices if you can, please.
Cheers from Algeria
Peace
Abdelhak S,
