Hi all,

I'm wondering for some time now why Inkscape does not use some sort of web-based translation platform (like Transifex or Crowdin, maybe even Launchpad's integrated localization capabilities)?

In fact it would make translation work much easier and probably even reduce the administrative work to update the source.

Right now it's almost impossible to collaborate with translations since there is no easy way to synchronize work and it often goes down like this:
...and before you know it there are three different versions of the translation - based on different .pot versions - which are almost impossible to merge (or read: would take a huge amount of valuable volunteer time to merge).

Therefore my question: Why don't we use a system where every translator/developer can actually always work with the latest translation files and submit his/her work immediately? This would save a huge amount of administration effort and therefore leave much more time to actually work on content!

Best Regards,
Eduard
