Dear fellow website translators,
I'd like to give you all a status update:
The website is fast enough again for browsing (for over a week now), but some of the internal parts currently do not work well, and editing the CMS is too slow to ask anyone to do it without having a bad conscience about it. It also sometimes creates problems for which we do not yet have a solution.
If you find that you would really like to do some translation work, you can - to bridge that grey, cruel time until real editing is enjoyable again - grab the .po file for your language now and translate some of the base strings of the website ;) (for links and instructions see Wiki page)
Instructions here: http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/WebSite#Translating_other_parts_of_t...
You can also translate our two new news items:
- (about the website update): https://inkscape.org/en/news/2016/02/09/website-updated-2016/
- (about FOSSASIA competition): http://inkscape.org/en/news/2016/02/18/fossasia-and-openclipart-t-shirt-desi...
(but do it in one go, and make a local backup text file that you can paste back, because if you try to edit an existing news translation, you may get a cached version of the edit dialog, which can contain an older, incomplete translation version - also, if you want to correct a mistake you only discover after publishing.)
Also take a look at our new team: https://inkscape.org/en/*translator
I have an email prepared for you sitting in my draft mail folder with all relevant editing changes, and I'm looking forward to sending it when editing works well again.
Hopefully that will be soon, kind regards, Maren

Dear fellow website translators,
the inkscape.org website has been updated with a lot of new functionality.
You can read about the main changes for non-editors here in Martin's summary for the developer mailing list: http://sourceforge.net/p/inkscape/mailman/message/34807473/
For translators and editors, there are a few changes about how the website works, too - for example, missing pages are now filled in automatically with the English contents as a fallback.
This means that I am going to remove all those copied English pages in non-English languages, and very few very outdated translations, so that the contents will be current and available for all languages, even if only in English.
All website translators are now part of the new, official translators team, and we have our own little section on the website, with our own gallery and (soon) chat: https://inkscape.org/de/*translator
I will make a writeup with all the main changes and tricks for you soon and update the Wiki page to reflect the new status.
Unfortunately, currently, the website has severe performance issues (every action takes about one minute to complete), and there may also be some database problems. Our web team is working on getting this resolved.
I will update you when the site is ready to be 'attacked' by us again - currently, editing is very trying for one's patience ;)
Kind regards, Maren
