Hi Duarte and Sylvain, and everyone,
(replying to the last four mails in one)
Thank you for your replies and for the quick website updates!

I'd keep the emails and ditch the diffs
they are a good opportunity for any additional warnings, advice or recommendations
- That sounds reasonable. I'm going to include a link to the relevant diffs instead, and a short description of the change, for those who do not want to receive *all* the website updates (it's not possible to filter by language, according to Martin Owens... :/). We'll see how it goes. I also don't want to not send any messages to the list anymore ;-)
If a diff is unclear, please ask on the list ;)

(Well, I won't be able to do my small random malicious edits everywhere without you knowing… Bad. For example, that gray text on the English Testing page.)
- I've been receiving all mails about all edits since the feature was introduced, which means I've received about 1600 mails about those until now (e.g. yesterday 16, today 15 up to now).
That's why I think it would be very useful if people editing the English pages would always include a comment in the comment field, as then it would be easy to see if a change is relevant to translators or not. It once was mandatory, but some change made it optional - I still don't know if that change was intentional (we've got a bug report, that never received any answer).
Consequently I think it still makes sense you keeps on sending us your ‘pictural’ diffs if it doesn't take you time. My suggestion would be that translators subscribe to the changes like Duarte and me just to test, and then you'll ask us again in a few months if it's OK and you can stop sending these updates.
- Of course it takes time :) I'll continue to look at the diffs anyway (that Firefox addon is useful for so many purposes!), but making the screenshots and uploading them with title, description, licence,..., partly editing them to have them as a single image instead of broken up into parts (ditched this yesterday), does take time ;) (which I'd be willing to invest if it helps, but not if it's redundant).
Maybe you could help with trying to remember to reevaluate in a few months?

We can still see the diffs online through the web interface notifications
Uh… Where?
- Via the page's history (see attachment). Or by following the link in the email you received.
Thanks, anonymous. You do great work.
- The page history doesn't have a record of anyone but you and Duarte doing anything with that page ;) (but I think unpublishing isn't recorded). Wasn't me, anyway.
Thanks again for the feedback, you two!
The new translators probably didn't have an opportunity to compare, but I hope they will speak up if the info they receive is not sufficient, or if they have any questions at all :)
Kind Regards, Maren

Wasn't aware the shield was translatable yet, last I checked (which was admittedly quite a while ago) that was not accessible for editing. Anyway it's updated now along with all other changes Maren reported in the diffs
Great.

Unrelated: I just noticed that the Portuguese page for the Gallery is empty and missing all plugins. I tried adding them but I can't copy them from other languages nor introduce the correct settings manually myself. Could anyone with the right permissions fix that for me please, so I can translate that page too?
The gallery is a special page managed by specific code; it is not a CMS editable page with plugins. Well, I just had time to see your empty page, then I opened a second browser to have an unlogged session in parallel and on that second browser it was fixed (and then, loading the Gallery with Chromium, my computer lagged during several minutes). Thanks, anonymous. You do great work. The person who fixed it unpublished the page, I think… To fix such problems, leave the page empty (empty it if it is not empty) and check that the Page Settings are strictly the same (possibly with translations) as for the English page, including Advanced Page Settings. The problem was in the first field of the advanced settings: the overriding URL was not specified. It must be ‘gallery’ (otherwise it won't work…). I re-published the page. Good you noticed it. -- Sylvain
