Unfortunately this seems to be a known issue with the Appimage, see https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inkscape/-/issues/857
If anybody can help with Appimage packaging let us know, help is highly welcome.
For testing the translation I can only recommend to use one of the alternative ways to obtain Inkscape (e.g. ppa or self-compiled version), see website for more info.

The UI language of the Appimage of 1.0rc1 can not be modified from en to zh_CN(*Edit > Preferences*). I tried 3 times and it's still en UI.
So, how to test my po translate file?
