Hi Yuri, I fear we are not understanding each other; I am doing the exact steps shown in the document (if you look at my commit history you will see that I have done this before), and I'm still getting the same message: [image: inkscape_branch_error.png] Is the 1.1.x branch somehow locked or something?

Hi Yuri, thanks for your reply. My question remains, though; where
should
I "replace" my file then, in which branch?
Please do not try to mangle any branches. Just do exactly what the tutorial asks you to do and click "Accept" and "Yes, do this" on any questions.
Hope this helps.
Best regards, Yuri

Hi there, when following the instructions I am getting the message "You can
only
create or edit files when you are on a branch" just after uploading
my
new
file and I can't continue.
I am on:
https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inkscape/-/blob/1.1.x/po/es.po
Am I missing something?
No, everything is Ok. Just do not try to commit in the 1.1.x branch in your repo and the default branch will be created.
Best regards, Yuri
Thank you,

It makes perfect sense!
And it's exactly the link "step 1" in Maren's guide will give you.

There is one thing I would like to add, which is a link to the
most
up-to-date po files. This is because, unless you download the full
source
code and run the generate_POTFILES.sh script, the po files in the indicated branch will not be up to date.
I usually go to
https://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php?title=Interface_translation
and
use the following links:
For the main development branch:
https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inkscape/-/jobs/artifacts/master/download?job=
translations
For release branches: https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inkscape/-/jobs/artifacts/<branch name>/download?job=translations
Does that make sense? Thank you,

Hi everyone,
I had been planning to send something like this out with the
string
freeze announcement already, but as that has become a bit blurry,
I
almost forgot about the idea until Seanán (Irish translator)
reminded
me:

This should help you all navigate around GitLab (if you don't know how to find things there already)
Happy translating!
