Hi all,
thanks to Bryce for creating this Mailing list.
When I say bottlenecks I'm not talking about delays in the process or any of that. What I mean is that, at least in my case, there are many terms that are so very specific that a normal/intermediate design application user like me doesn't have a clue on how to translate them. What I usually do in those cases is try and find the term in another application in english (CorelDraw, Freehand, or so) and then find the term is the spanish version of that program. As you can imagine this is quite a time consuming task, and also not very reliable. Also, since the extensions (and/or effects, I don't know the difference) have become translatable, a new world of obstacles has opened up. I'm having quite some trouble finding a good translation for some of those strings, particularly for the fretboard creator. I took me several days to even find out whata fretboard is.
Completely agree with Lucas : up to now the main issues I've faced with translations have been : - specific vocabulary : typography (kerning, flowed text...), fretboard (this was has been pretty difficult : I've had to go and visit a violin/guitar manufacturer :) ), geometry (Tiled clones...) - the fact that English is a very consise language compared to French (and thus trying to get translates strings as short as english strings can be a problem) - keeping translated strings coherent (using the same style, the same family of vocabulary everywhere) And like Bryce, I hope this ML can help resolve some of those problems and/or allow saving time there (by sharing difficult experiences).
P.S., subscriber count is up to 9 so far. :-)
This is very good news
