What do you see as the major bottlenecks in the translation process currently? Maybe we can do something to address that.
Bryce
Hi Bryce, When I say bottlenecks I'm not talking about delays in the process or any of that. What I mean is that, at least in my case, there are many terms that are so very specific that a normal/intermediate design application user like me doesn't have a clue on how to translate them. What I usually do in those cases is try and find the term in another application in english (CorelDraw, Freehand, or so) and then find the term is the spanish version of that program. As you can imagine this is quite a time consuming task, and also not very reliable. Also, since the extensions (and/or effects, I don't know the difference) have become translatable, a new world of obstacles has opened up. I'm having quite some trouble finding a good translation for some of those strings, particularly for the fretboard creator. I took me several days to even find out whata fretboard is.
I hope that these kind of issues will be solved quicker when consulting with fellow translators, who may have a better clue than me.
Cheers, Lucas

Great, I haven't said much (nothing to be more precise) about the issue in previous threads about this mailing list, but I do find it interesting to be able to discuss 'bottlenecks' in the translation process.
See you on the list ;-)

Heya all,
We've set up a brand new mailing list for Inkscape translators. You can subscribe to it here:
https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/inkscape-translator
The purpose of this list is to discuss localization and translation issues of Inkscape and its documentation. Here's a sampling of specific topics the translators have proposed discussing on the list:
- where are we ? (what are the translation status ? Which languages need some more commitment...)
- where do we (translators) usually face some issues ? (specific vocabulary, synchronization with development...)
- get some best practices from the ML and then, write them down on the wiki
- share experiences on specific blocking points
- take a look at the various tasks, on different levels : (core software strings, tutorials, text docs, web pages...)
