Martin,
If you'd like to contact the authors to get permission, I say go for it. I know we have them license things as CC BY SA for the contest, but I'm not sure more casual computer users really understand it. I think that perhaps on file uploads to inkscape.org, maybe we have a checkbox that asks if we can use them for promotional purposes? Again, just to make it that much easier and clearer to less savvy users, as I really doubt many people would be against it.
Also, we need to touch base on the status of the screenshots stuff... it's becoming more pressing as release is nearing and I have all of the past galleries to redo on top of creating the new one.
Cheers, Josh

If there are any changes or suggestions, please let's try to collect them into one thread so I can then request all modifications at one time.
The first one I have will be to use the traditional Inkscape & Draw Freely text from our branding file.
I'd like to take this image and a few of the runners up images for the website banners. It's always good to keep things fresh.
I spent the weekend refactoring the front page (html/css/js/cms) so we can edit in new images more easily. So we should select a few good images for tabs "Overview", "Features", "Gallery" and "Learning"
Images need to be 960x300 svg AND png fallbacks.
Thoughts?
Martin,
